Machine connection for documenting productive periods

Every machine can be custom-connected - rely on our expertise

It actually sounds quite simple: a company's productivity can be increased because there is potential in its workflows and processes. To do this, the machines are connected using software and the data is documented in real time. This means that weak spots, bottlenecks or potential can be identified. The reality of connecting machines looks very different in many companies, however.

Machine connections require manual work

In reality, production systems in companies are made up of machines built at various different times and therefore representing different stages of technological progress. Machine connections with "plug and play" certainly do not exist. While modern machine connections are normally achieved through an OPC bridge (Open Platform Communications), there is no standardised access for older machines. "Machine connections with older models mean that we encounter very different challenges in the control cabinet. However it is always possible to capture machine data without intervening in the actual control", says Hubert Schönle, Managing Director of Promatix GmbH. And this is how the experts at Promatix connect each individual machine and check the existing sensors. At the same time, they determine which data and parameters from that machine are relevant to productivity.

Sensors gather the data

For useful machine connections, sensors that capture the relevant processes on the machine are essential. Often, the equipment already has suitable sensors for processes going on inside the machine. During the machine connection process, these can also be used for gathering data. If there are no sensors, then Promatix will retrofit them.

Two days on site - and the machine connection is up and running

Hubert Schönle: "Machine connections are always an individual solution. Our experts therefore work on site until the machine connection is working." This means that companies are able to capture and monitor the entire production process - not just the modern systems that already have communication modules.
